1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how SeaStar ABA LLC (“SeaStar ABA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information through seastaraba.com, the Seastar Vocabulary mobile application (also presented as “Seastar Vocabulary Ocean Adventure”), and related interactive learning resources (collectively, the “Services”).
This website policy does not replace any Notice of Privacy Practices or other privacy notice that may apply when an individual becomes a client and receives clinical services from SeaStar ABA.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Contact information, such as your name, email address, and telephone number.
- Information submitted through our consultation form, which may include a child’s name or age, insurance information, and the contents of your message.
- Account information used to access the Seastar Vocabulary app and other authenticated learning resources, including username, email address, internal user identifier, and securely processed authentication credentials. We do not store passwords in readable form.
- Learning settings and progress information, such as grade or level selection, activity mode, word mastery or proficiency level, correct and incorrect totals, and related summary information.
- We do not retain a permanent item-by-item history of every answer submitted during vocabulary practice.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting and technology providers may automatically process limited technical information, such as IP address, browser or app type, device and operating-system information, referring page, requested pages, timestamps, and security or diagnostic logs. The Services may use browser storage, secure app storage, session storage, or similar technologies needed for authentication, preferences, and progress tracking.
We do not currently use the website to sell personal data or to serve behaviorally targeted advertising.
3. How We Use Information
- To respond to questions and consultation requests.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the website.
- To create and manage user accounts, authenticate users, provide vocabulary-learning activities, and save each user’s learning progress.
- To personalize practice by selecting words based on the user’s stored mastery or proficiency level.
- To prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and protect our systems.
- To comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Service Providers
We use service providers that process information on our behalf or provide website infrastructure:
- Vercel hosts and delivers the website.
- Supabase provides authentication, account management, database, and progress-storage functions for the Seastar Vocabulary app and interactive learning resources. Account and learning-progress records are associated with the authenticated user’s unique identifier. SeaStar ABA does not use this learning database to store ABA client treatment records.
- Web3Forms processes website contact-form submissions and delivers them to us.
- Google Fonts provides website font files and may receive technical request information when a visitor’s browser loads those files.
These providers process information according to their own terms, privacy notices, and our applicable service arrangements. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business reorganization where permitted by law.
5. Contact Form and Sensitive Information
The website contact form is intended for general inquiries and initial consultation requests. It is not an emergency service or a patient portal. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, complete medical records, detailed clinical documentation, payment-card information, or other highly sensitive information through the form.
If you or another person is experiencing an emergency, call 911 or contact an appropriate emergency service.
6. Children’s Privacy
The Seastar Vocabulary app is an educational resource that may be used by children. An adult should create or authorize the account and supervise a child’s use when required by applicable law. We limit collection to information reasonably needed to provide account access, maintain learning progress, secure the Services, and comply with law.
The app does not include advertising, behavioral advertising, public profiles, social networking, open chat, or the sale of personal information. We do not knowingly request that a child provide a telephone number, street address, precise location, photograph, health information, or other unnecessary personal information.
If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us at info@seastaraba.com. After appropriate verification, a parent or legal guardian may review, correct, or request deletion of the child’s account information and learning progress.
7. Data Retention
We retain account information and summarized learning progress while the account remains active and for only as long afterward as reasonably necessary to process deletion, maintain security, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations. We do not retain a permanent item-by-item history of every vocabulary answer. When an account-deletion request is completed, the account and associated learning-progress records are deleted or de-identified, except for limited information that must be retained for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no website, email transmission, or internet storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Privacy Choices and Requests
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information, or to obtain information about how it is used. You may also appeal a decision regarding a privacy request by replying to our decision or contacting us again with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line.
To request access, correction, or deletion—including deletion of a Seastar Vocabulary account and its associated learning progress—email info@seastaraba.com with “Seastar Vocabulary Privacy Request” in the subject line. If an account-deletion option is available within the app, you may also submit the request there. We may need to verify your identity or, for a child’s account, your authority as parent or legal guardian before fulfilling the request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
10. Third-Party Links
The website may link to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy, content, accessibility, or security practices of third parties. Review their policies before providing information.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our website, services, or legal obligations change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
